Asia 2009 – Day 0.5

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

Well, I’m off again. And, hopefully, that means blogging as best as I can while I travel. A shame I didn’t get to see everyone before I left, last minute packing and everyone being busy right before my flight never helps. Ah well, I’ll be back before I know it?

For starters, my current itinerary is:

Seoul – September 16th – September 22d
Jakarta – September 22nd – September 29th
Taipei – September 29th – October 13th
I may add Hong Kong or Bangkok during my two weeks in Taipei, just depends on prices and how I’m feelin’…

Well, not to complain, but when does ANYONE ever have an exquisite flight to anywhere? I suppose just the first and business classers, but…

st. thomas with the drakes and the okis

Monday, April 27th, 2009

A quick video montage I threw together of my family trip to St. Thomas.  Not at all perfect editing or effects, but just a silly fun piece for my fam and the other family that travelled with us that I felt like sharing.  The song is “Skeletons” by Yeah Yeah Yeah’s.  Kinda long (five minutes) sorry, but…  Enjoy if you’re bored outta your gourd.  All was shot on a Canon PowerShot SD770 IS Digital Elph.  Not a DV camcorder.  I need to get my hands on an HD Canon Powershot now though… Check it after the jump… (more…)

like a burger virgin…

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

Ok, so, obviously it’s really a big ad for Burger King, but on the other hand it’s a fairly brilliant short documentary. I love burgers, and am all for spreading the love of the burger. And I gotta say, I appreciate the fact that they do show that some prefer neither and some even prefer the Big Mac over the Whopper. It’s quite charming seeing how people approach new food. I’m sure there are some new foods that we encounter that we have no idea how to attack. I’m a bit envious of the filmmakers too, what a fun idea and project to complete (AND with big ol’ corporation money, yeehaw! luckies…). A part of me is like “Don’t introduce this terribly addictive, fattening, unhealthy food to such innocent, healthy, untainted cultures!” But I think of how excited I am trying new foods and being introduced to exotic things that are so familiar to others. Wonder how they would fancy chicken McNuggets and french fries…?

biking the 405

The best excuse to buy a bike right now. Crazy mofo’s. I’d try it too if I had to deal with that traffic daily. (via laist)

marathon training list : 1. drink blood 2. hunt lions…

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

Six Maasai warriors will run the London Marathon tomorrow to raise money for a well in their village. Isaya, 24, is their chief. This is a diary of his week in London, the first time he has left Tanzania…

Here’s an article on how their race went. I want to spoil the news, but I’ll let you read on. Let me just say, sometimes tradition gets in the way, eh?  A shame…

sorry, coachella…

Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

But San Fran just steamrolled your ass. Royally. I’m pretty sure damn near every festival concert is kicking your ass this year. Three days of filler? Really? I’m more interested in your smaller bands than any of your headliners. And I could see any of those smaller bands at a better sounding, more intimate and classier atmosphere on their own. And I avoid having to choose between two bands that I want to see playing at the same time. See what SF is offering this summer after the jump… (more…)

welcome to dildo

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

No kidding, there’s a town called Dildo, and what’s even better, there’s a video on YouTube about it. What’s worse: Living in a town that sucks balls, or living in one that’s named after prosthetic ones? Dildo just might be both. Bummer. I though Los Banos had it bad (I know, it’s sans tilde, but still…). (via Neatorama)

i saw the sign

Monday, March 10th, 2008

and it opened up my eyes. i saw the sign. does anyone really need to know what has been happening here in taipei? i look back at the notes i’ve been writing to finalize the posts, and it starts to sound the same: wake up. silent lunch with gon gon. visit pou pou. home. dinner with friends. drinks. out late. drunk. home. so what can we garner from this? anything at all?

apologies, as usual…

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

I’ve been away from the computer while I’ve been in Taipei. But I’m back at it again. Don’t lose hope, true believers. Things have gotten a bit more haywire here, so plenty more stories on the way. I’m sure you’re on the edge of your seats. In the meantime, please enjoy this random video of my friend Jessy being given lovely kisses from Pin’s dog Immi. Yay.
