st. thomas with the drakes and the okis

Monday, April 27th, 2009

A quick video montage I threw together of my family trip to St. Thomas.  Not at all perfect editing or effects, but just a silly fun piece for my fam and the other family that travelled with us that I felt like sharing.  The song is “Skeletons” by Yeah Yeah Yeah’s.  Kinda long (five minutes) sorry, but…  Enjoy if you’re bored outta your gourd.  All was shot on a Canon PowerShot SD770 IS Digital Elph.  Not a DV camcorder.  I need to get my hands on an HD Canon Powershot now though… Check it after the jump… (more…)

dead man’s bones = yes

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Friends Zach and Ryan star in this one-shot video on 16mm film for their band Dead Man’s Bones and used the live music for their song “Name In Stone.”  Basically… Gorgeous and eerie.  Great concept, great group, great great. Inspiring seeing friends getting their shizz done and done damn well…

bye bye conan… and hello conan!

Conan’s last show was pretty much a recap and reminiscing of classic moments. Which was still utterly enjoyable. The White Stripes though were kinda “enh.” Always sappy and sad and sweet to see Mr. O’Brien to get teary eyed though. I know I’ve seen him do it once or twice before. Damn, he’s a good guy. A shame he has to leave NYC, but all the better for us LAers. I just wish I had seen a live taping there before seeing one here, which I will definitely be doing ASAP. Enjoy the last episode here! Hulu.com has all the last few episodes too! And, you’d think the nbc.com site would show the episodes, but they don’t effin’ work on their own site. Putzes…

chubby asian dude dances 100 times in 100 days in 100 places

Kind of fun, but pretty good mix of fun dance music too. I’m hoping to start “dj-ing” Sunday nights in Hollywood soon, don’t be surprised if you hear a lot of this playing. This guy looks like me. If I ate a lot more. And could dance. Ha. Just kidding. I can dance. And I’m way better looking than this guy. SUCKAAAS…

like a burger virgin…

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

Ok, so, obviously it’s really a big ad for Burger King, but on the other hand it’s a fairly brilliant short documentary. I love burgers, and am all for spreading the love of the burger. And I gotta say, I appreciate the fact that they do show that some prefer neither and some even prefer the Big Mac over the Whopper. It’s quite charming seeing how people approach new food. I’m sure there are some new foods that we encounter that we have no idea how to attack. I’m a bit envious of the filmmakers too, what a fun idea and project to complete (AND with big ol’ corporation money, yeehaw! luckies…). A part of me is like “Don’t introduce this terribly addictive, fattening, unhealthy food to such innocent, healthy, untainted cultures!” But I think of how excited I am trying new foods and being introduced to exotic things that are so familiar to others. Wonder how they would fancy chicken McNuggets and french fries…?

Nothing at all to do with Thanksgiving, but man, fun fun fun.  Yes, it’s a REAL demolition derby but shot with tilt-shift focus making everything look miniaturized.  Wait until the Mechazilla car comes out, too funny…

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles anime style

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

I have no idea why or when the Japanese entertainment world decided to make this happen, but, well, they have. So off we go! They’re a bit creepy when they go all super-version.  Not really digging the cheesy masks.  And man, could you make it any MORE Japanese-y?  Combining to form one giant TMNT? Seriously? Really?  Fine…

1234, Sesame Street and Feist make sweet sweetness sweeter

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

I love Feist. I love Sesame Street. Feist was on Sesame Street. I love Feist even more now. Love. And envy. This makes me want to be a musician just so I could be invited to sing on Sesame Street. (Thanks Niko.)
